More doggy treats! Our pup – JoJo, loves treats, especially the ones I bake. When I’m in the kitchen baking, he is close at hand. He even waits after he finishes his breakfast or dinner, staring us down, just to get his treat. Okay, yes, he is spoiled, but he is our little pup and we absolutely love, love, LOVE him.
So, when I came across this simple, healthy and delicious treat at – It Doesn’t Taste Like Chicken, I couldn’t resist baking up a batch. Not only does JoJo love them, but my husband thinks they’re a tasty treat, too.
3 – Ingredient Doggy Treats
adapted from – itdoesn’ttastelikechicken
- 1 cup oats (gluten free, old fashioned or 1-minute oats)
- 1/3 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup almond butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla – optional
Preheat oven to 300 F. Line cookie baking sheet with unbleached parchment paper and set aside.
In a small food processor grind oats until finely ground into a flour consistency.
In medium mixing bowl mix together oats, pumpkin and almond butter. If using, add vanilla and mix all ingredients together.
Place dough onto lightly floured surface (I use brown rice flour and a piece of parchment paper). You can flatten the dough with a rolling pin or just flatten with your hands (I like to use my hands since it’s a small amount of dough). Cut out shapes with cookie cutter of choice and place on cookie sheet.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the treats are dry and hard. Store in an airtight container. Makes about 12.
Enjoy – Woof!
